Paediatric (Childhood) Ultrasound Scans
At RAD Clinics we perform paediatric ultrasound scans for following areas:
General Abdomen Ultrasound
General abdominal scans are done to evaluate the Liver, Biliary system, Gallbladder, Pancreas, Kidneys, Spleen and Bowel to identify conditions such as Intussusception and Pyloric Stenosis.
Neonatal Head Ultrasound
Neonatal head ultrasound scan is done through the “soft” spot on the top of the head. Neonatal head scan is recommended in the first 4 to 7 days after birth to assess the ventricles for analysing vascular resistive index and to identify conditions such as possible hydrocephalus. A further assessment may be required depending on findings revealed by the ultrasound examination.
Hip & Groin Ultrasound
Hip and Groin ultrasound scans are performed in children to diagnose Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip joint (DDH), undescended testes or cryptorchidism, inguinal hernias and to examine any lump or enlarged lymph nodes.
Neck ultrasound scans in children are performed to examine the thyroid and salivary glands and to identify/examine any lump in the neck region.
Spine ultrasound scan for babies under 4 months is performed if there is a dimple identified at the base of the spine and can reveal presence of any fistulous communication with the spine.
